Not to make any sort of comment.....we let everyone comment here....most of the time, lol. It's just when you comment on current conditions, then we like to know whether or not you have direct knowledge. If you don't have a child in school or have some sort of connection with the school system, then chances are that you are just guessing about what's going on. I bet you would get a real shocker if you actually got to see it first hand. Kids are dealing with things that were not dreamed of "back in my day".

Every generation things the one after has it easier or is more trouble.
So to make any sort of comment you have to have direct involvement?

All of these "bad" kids are coming from somewhere. Your neighbors, family, etc because if they are riding the same bus . . .
Kids are no worse than we were, we are just older and it seems that way. Our parents generation said the same about us and their parents and so on.

Crypt, great idea!!!! Principals, teachers, custodians, cafeteria staff and all others would just LOVE to keep the little inmates at school on the week-ends!

I say from 6th grade on up let them stay at school until they're ready to get a job. The parents could visit on the weekends.

BS...everybody kids included have thin skins these days
Alrighty smarty, kids have actually killed themselves for being bullied.. My grandson should have the same opportunity to receive education as well as the next without having to indure ignorance of children whose parents refuse to correct them. I try to teach him to treat others the way he wants to be treated. Apparently that's too much for you to comprehend hiding behind that computer screen!

Unfortunately, having monitors on school buses isn't likely to happen. I mean, if the budget for education in North Carolina won't even pay for teacher assistants nor give raises to educators, I think that hiring bus monitors is out of the question.
And no, older students would NOT qualify to be bus monitors. Too many liability issues.

About 40 some years ago my daughter, who is deaf, was riding the bus when we lived out west. I regret that she felt she could not confide in me then but a little boy exposed himself to her in the back of the bus. I don't think she ever really got over it.
These days I believe things could be worse. That is why monitors are so desperately needed on school buses. Better yet take your children out of school and teach them at home. That is legal you know. Wish I had done that long ago. For intormation on home schooling call: 973-7187.

mcgranny | Posted 6:10 pm, 09/02/2015 | I refuse to let my grandson ride the school bus. We tried that last year and he was constantly bullied for being autistic. When a child tells.a special needs child that he's retarded and should hang himself is a crying shame. So if you want to bash me for making sure my grandson isn't tormented on the bus have at it.. I've got a right on my opinion you guys yours. |

mcgranny, I say hurray for you! Your grandson is fortunate to have you looking out for him. There are many things you can teach him about how to handle ignorant people without him being tormented by them on the bus. Let him know he can always talk to you and also give him as many experiences outside of school as you can. It will help him to learn how to handle himself in different situations.
BTW, the bus toyota mentioned might be an option. ?

mommotwo,
Nothing wrong with being a helicopter parent. I willingly admit that I am when my children are out in public. This world is crazy as ****!
