Bottomheadman is full of sheet. The state sets the fuel tax in NC, not local government entities

bottomheadman (view profile) | Each county has different tax amounts on gas. That's why another county maybe cheaper or higher than our county. I've always heard that Wilkes gas tax is always the highest in the north west corner of the state.

And just where did you dream up this BS? You must be a station owner doing the screwing.

If you shop at lowers foods you have a chance to get your gas cheaper. I have right now .50 cents off which if I bought it today at Hess then it would be around 2.50 a gal. So that would be one tank you would or could save on.

fuzzbug (view profile) | Posted 10:20 pm, 10/22/2014 | I don't like them because it takes them too long to take your money. You have to wait in line like forever because they just only got one person working behind the register |
I have walked out of there many times because of that. I will not stand in long lines because they are too cheap to keep two registers going when it is busy. Puck them!!!

Every time I read these gas threads I just shake my head. Gas here is so cheap. People visit and always remark about the low price. Hardly worth a riot in the streets, maybe do a gratitude dance.

If it is all the same then why do they advertise that their gas has xyz additive? I know were you are talking about but that does not mean it's all the exact same. Each company has different blends and additives or they would be sued for advertising they add xyz when they don't.

shagbag Murphy's get's their fuel from the same tank farm everyone else does. Wilco, Shell, Marathon all get deliveries from the same Greensboro facility.

I did not think this was something new. The oil companies always lower fuel prices around election time regardless of which political party the election if projected to favor. I have always figured they lowered their price per gallon in hopes the oil industry does not become a hot topic.
I do not buy Murphy's fuel because my old 90 model GMC does not run good off of it. They must have exactly 10% ethanol instead of up to 10%. It is usually cheaper but I loose a mile or two per gallon and with a full tank with twenty gallons that adds up. I also have a first gen Ranger and it's the same thing. My dad drives new model vehicles and he does not have any issues with fuel mileage.
