We've done a marble backsplash with a decorative insert, a tiled bar counter, kitchen floor and bathroom/walk in closet.
The backsplash is the easiest because you are not on your hands and knees. The grouting is tedious but it beats paying a fortune for the installation.

Watch some youtube videos, it's a pretty easy DIY project. You can rent a tile cutter depending on what size tile you use.

Any tillers know what the average labor cost is to tile a kitchen backsplash? Currently have a formica backsplash and wife wants it changed. The backsplash is 12x9.
