Heres another reason why people are losing respect for LEOs.

A ban on burning warning ticket is put in you file for 3 years and if you get caught within that time its a fifty dollar fine and also time in jail if the judge sees fit.

They are required to write warning tickets as a way for the state to keep track of stops so they can have the data for those who scream racial profiling among other stupid issues.

Sgt.
I really can't help you, I don't work traffic and have never written a warning tickit in my career.

LEO......what's the rule with the warning tickets if you get another one? Or I've been issued warnings where I was told I had to do something with the ticket.....I can't remember what he told me but I never did it and nothing ever happened.....I was wondering if you could clarify

Oh it was a warning.....I should've read first

No ......go to the DA's office, show them your exemption, they will probably throw it out right there. As for finding some kind of punishment for the officer if that's what you want, all you can do is tell his supervisor.....they will remind him of the exemption.....or inform him if he was sick that day in trooper school. And that will be that.

He may have just been filling a quota and issued it knowing it would be thrown out.

eah this guy was pretty young

He is the one ill bet he came here straight out of training about 7 or 8 months ago . I am friends with most all the sheriffs and Police up here but this one is not friendly so i avoid him. He might be 24 or 25 but looks younger.

If it was just a warning ticket then what's the big deal? I thought those were pretty much meaningless.

Gramps,
It was a warning ticket so there will be no hearing.

If it was the young guy he's fresh out of school and trying to make a name for himself . I would estamate he writes 40 tickets a day. To give you an example of his mentality he has Fight For Us bumper stickers on his personal car. I wan't bother saying who that sticker belongs to but you can figure it out.

Yeah this guy was pretty young

Fins,
Easy read the first 3 words of my post. And about 6 or so post down I ask Joseph if he had filed a complaint with the troopers supervisor.

Why should I be surprised that a LEO is misinformed on the law. It does have a medical exemption. If your doctor is willing to write you a note stating that wearing a seatbelt is a potential health problem to you, then you don't have to wear one.

leo(law enforcement officer)

FWIW,
Joseph's encounter aside, the law says that seatbelt use is mandatory, if you don't buckle up you shouldn't be upset if you get a ticket. Apparently his FTO forgot to instruct on "lecture or write" but don't do both.

If so, be glad you got the warning. He got me a couple years ago as I was headed home from Boone and with the ticket, I got a lecture about how seatbelts save lives

Not yet I called headquarters in Caldwell and no one answer the phone I assume because of the holiday. I did however send an email to the highway patrol from their contact us page and plan to call the Caldwell office again tomorrow.
