I am a Christian and I still think the principle really messed up. You let one religion into the schools nowadays you have to let them all. I for one had much rather keep religion out of the schools then have them hearing from all the others. It is the way it is nowadays and religion has no place in school other than if its in the studies. You want it in your school then go to the Christian school. So yea this principle really did a dumb thing, what was he thinking.

MM- I'd think the atheists probably did. If it was the Wilkes Board of Education it would suprise me. If they did then we need to vote evreyone of them off the board.

It is entirely possible that the principal was duped. It is not uncommon for evangelical motivational speakers to use deception to get in the door. It is unfortunate, but lying for Jesus is a common evangelical tactic these days. http://www.patheos.com/blog...id-for-it/

The principal has agreed to let a Satanic worshiper to come to school and have an assembly on the good deeds of Satan. All those students not wishing to stay in class but instead venture to the gym can enjoy this assembly. Fair time will be given as the speaker the other day was given.

SmartMouthWitch (view profile) Posted 1:16 am, 10/31/2014 Why is either side threatened by the other? If you have confidence in how you have taught your child, whichever side you fall on, a few words from the "other" side shouldn't change that.
This is what I'm thinking, as well. Where are the actual, jacked-up parents? What are they saying or is it just an opportunity for American Atheists to involve themselves in something? Who contacted them?

I wasn't referring to an atheist when I said satanist. I was referring to bottomheadman's earlier post.

Bring in a motivational speaker that just so happens to be a Satanist too and let him speak on his experiences.
Have you ever wondered why there isn't an abundance of motivational speakers that are satanists? You know like that guy in Clemmons that had people buried in his yard? He wouldn't have made a very good motivational speaker or role model and it's doubtful that he would have been allowed in.

| You gotta love Atheist ,,,,,, they are so loving and care so much about everyones children,,, but they cannot Forgive their on Child in Believing in Christianity |
I am an atheist; my wife is not and I love her just the same. There is nothing for me to forgive because she has not wronged me by being Christian. Her religion is part of who she is. I love and accept her the way she is. Our children will most likely be Christian as well but I will love them just the same

Bestill (view profile) Posted 10:27 am, 10/30/2014 Was the assembly held during non-instructional time? Before or after school? During lunch? If so, no worries.
You're so right Bestill. Remember back when you were a student in public school. It didn't matter what the assembly was about you jumped at it instead of staying in your regular class. That seems so unfair. So if you want to go hear about Jesus you can go to the playground, if you don't then you have to stay in your classroom and do extra book work. Is that not punishing those that don't believe or tempting kids to lie and say they believe to get out of class ?
Actually, I was educated by the Jesuits. We attended Mass daily.

eioeio (view profile) | Posted 7:16 pm, 10/30/2014 | As far as, West Wilkes High School and Mr. Shepherd goes, he gave the students the opportunity to attend the assembly if they chose to do so, according to my child. My child said in no way whatsoever where they made to attend, or made to pray at this assembly. This was completely go at your own will. I am a God fearing loving Christian mom and pray for my family and all that will be in contact with my family daily. I know we do not live in a perfect world, however, just because my Christian faith and beliefs are not the same as those of maybe the AA's - I have to ask- I am not asking for your views to be stopped, so please leave mine alone?
|
You are not asking for our views to be stopped ? So you would be ok, for kids that jump at the chance to get out of their regular classes to be offered an assembly during regular instruction time to be presented a lecture of sermon about how Satan is really good and loving and they should accept Satan. Would that be ok with you then ? Same difference, your views / our views. Hey what's fair is fair. What about the Satanist views ? They should have equal time too. Bring in a motivational speaker that just so happens to be a Satanist too and let him speak on his experiences.
