African American Music Appreciation Celebration
Public Event · by wilkescountylibrary
On Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Wilkes Heritage Museum, the Wilkes County Public Library, Dean’s Southern Bistro and The Wilkes Heritage Museum will host a gospel program to celebrate African-American Music Appreciation Month. Dionn Owens and Renaissance of Winston-Salem will be the guest choir. Dionn Owens and Renaissance is comprised of members from different churches in the Triad area. The choir has been blessed not only to minister at countless churches, but also to share in many local Triad ministries such as Peace of Mind and The Ebony Chorale. The choir has ministered on Gospel cruises, at the North Carolina General Baptist Convention as well as at the North Carolina Baptist State Convention. The choir has received awards such as, “Choir of the year from Gospel Reflections in North Carolina” and “Community Choir of the Year” at the Rhythm of Gospel Awards in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. We are glad this choir has agreed to come to Wilkes County. We hope that you will come and celebrate African-American music appreciation at the Wilkes County Heritage Museum. Donations will be taken at the door and CDs will be available for purchase.
