Do you love Jesus enough to keep his word?

Bitter Old Man

Posted 3:20 pm, 09/21/2022

I appreciate your opinion about what I would or wouldn't do "If I loved Jesus." Opinions are like a lot of other thingsmost people have one or two. Yours is less than worthless because it is not based on Scripture. You know that Jesus did not say "Follow the Ten Commandments.'"

I have some opinions as wellcare to read them?

If you "Loved Jesus" you would not lie about what He said. In fact, Jesus said "Do not give false testimony." (Mark 10:19) yet that hasn't stopped you.

If you "loved Jesus" you would only judge others according to what the Bible says. In fact, Jesus said "Do not judge by the outward appearance, but judge with righteous judgment." (John 7:24) but you continue to apply your standards to others when your standards are not based on the "Words of Jesus."

If you "loved Jesus" you would not slander other believers in Him. In Luke 9 we find what Jesus said: "John answered and said, Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name; and we tried to prevent him, because he does not follow along with us.' But Jesus said to him, "Do not hinder him, for the one who is not against you is for you." (Luke 9:49-50)

If you "loved Jesus" you would not steal from others. Jesus said "You shall not steal." (Matthew 19:19) Plagiarism is stealing someone else's academic work and passing it off as your own without giving them any credit. At least two different times, in this thread alone, you have tried to prove a false point by copying and pasting someone else's work.

Jesus tells me in Matthew 12:33-37 to judge you by what you have said. Jesus said "Either assume the tree to be good as well as its fruit good or assume the tree to be bad as well as its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit." Lies, slanders, misinterpretations, and false doctrines are what you have written, they are your fruit. Jesus went on to say "But I tell you that for every careless word that people speak they will give an account of it on the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

Once again, your cherry picking verses only makes you look desperate. John 12:50 makes very little sense without John 12:49. It isn't even logical to try to stretch Jesus's word "commandment" to "commandments." <as in the "Ten Commandments"> The "commandment" that Jesus is referring to as life everlasting in verse 50 is explained in verse 49. Jesus said "For I do not speak on My own, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a <notice the singular "a"> commandment as to what to say and what to speak. And I know that His commandment <again, singular, referring back to the commandment as to what to say and speak> is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me." (John 12:49-50)

Jesus's words do not say "Follow the Ten Commandments'"

( Whose Commandment is Life. THE FATHER. COMMANDMENT ARE LIFE EVERLASTING,??? ) WHAT IS HIS COMMANDMENT ????
THE -----TEN--- COMMANDMENT ARE HIS COMMANDMENT ---:

whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the FATHER SAID unto me, so I speak

Bitter. That's why Jesus gives you a choice. Keep the COMMANDMENT or Not. That choice is yours and your alone. Nobody can force you to accept them or break them BUT YOU. IF you loved Jesus you would keep them.

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that HIS COMMANDMENT IS LIFE EVERLASTING: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the FATHER SAID unto me, so I speak.

Just to be clear, neither you, M, nor David Treybig who authored "Are the 10 Commandments Upheld in the New Testament" (from which you copied and pasted) was able to find a single verse that records Jesus saying "Keep the Ten Commandments.'"

In the "proof" that you offered you (well, not you, but your source) quoted from Acts, 1 Corinthians, Hebrews and Romans. Do you find it hypocritical that you have bashed others for referring to those same Scriptures?

It would be fair to say that your claims that your and only your belief system is based on the "words of Jesus" have been proven false. Not even your Google search could make them true. All of your gnawing and gnashing of teeth has merely been a childlike temper tantrum based on a lie.

Love Jesus enough to keep his WORDS. If you don't dedicate your Life to the COMMANDMENT of God you will not receive the eternal Life you are hoping for. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Keep your FAITH in Jesus.

The 10 Commandments in the New Testament

First Commandment: Jesus affirmed that we are to worship only God (Matthew 4:10; Luke 4:8).

Second Commandment: James and Paul confirmed that we are not to worship idols (Acts 15:20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

Third Commandment: Jesus repeated that we should not use God's name in a vain manner (Matthew 5:33-37).

Fourth Commandment: Jesus set the example for us of keeping the seventh-day Sabbath (Luke 4:16), as did the apostle Paul (Acts 17:2). After Jesus' death, the author of the book of Hebrews confirmed that worshipping on this day continues to be expected of Christians (Hebrews 4:9).

Fifth Commandment: Jesus taught that the commandment to honor our father and mother still applies (Matthew 15:4).

Sixth Commandment: Jesus confirmed that the command not to murder is still in force (Matthew 19:18).

Seventh Commandment: Jesus likewise taught that the command not to commit adultery still applies (Matthew 19:18).

Eighth Commandment: Jesus taught that the commandment not to steal continues to apply (Matthew 19:18).

Ninth Commandment: Jesus listed the prohibition against lying as continuing to be in force (Matthew 19:18).

10th Commandment: Jesus and Paul taught that Christians should not covet (Luke 12:15; Romans 7:7).

Bitter. Yes you heard it before and you will hear it again. If you can't accept the Commandment of God you can't accept Jesus.

Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

<Yawn> Have we not talked about these verses before, M? Do you require reminders about how none of them relates how Jesus said to keep the "Ten Commandments?" Wasn't it you who so famously said "Jesus said what He said for a reason." Isn't it equally as true that Jesus did not say what He did not say for a reason? In the story of the rich man (from which you so often quote) Jesus gives a list of commandments to follow but they are not the 'Ten Commandments.' (Matthew 18:18-19) Find a verse that actually says what you claim and I will be interested.

And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail

Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men

Bitter. Sin is sin. You can't change it. But you can do something about it. REPENT and get away from religion.

M, from your posts it certainly appears that the concept of "truth" eludes you. Most of the things you have posted as "truth" have turned out to be falsehoods even under light scrutiny. This version of your "truth" is no different.

You appear to be a spiteful person with limited knowledge of and less understanding of the concept of "truth." Based on the testimony of three people with such a loose connection with the "truth" as you have disiplayed it would be impossible to convict a wolf of killing a sheep.

If you were only to trust in the words of Jesus the Holy Spirit would guide you to the truth.

Bitter you can say and do whatever you want to but the commandment of God is what to live by. Jesus came speaking for his Father. Breaking the commandment was a sin yesterday today and will be a sin tomorrow. Only way to stop sinning is to allow the Spirit of God to dwell in your heart. Satan can ONLY TEMPT YOU WITH what you carry in your heart. Keep the FAITH in Jesus and ONLY Jesus.
I've told you the truth.

That sounds very much like one of those "opinions" that you ridicule Christians for having. If memory serves you claim that Christians don't follow the "Words of Jesus" when, in fact, it is you that fails to follow them.

Surfer.. not exactly. I will stand by all I said standing in front of Jesus Without hesitation. According to bitter there is no Laws of God. So people are good to do whatever they please without repercussions. False teaching there. You need to read the Bible and not excuse the Old Testament because in it you find TRUTH. To love the Lord God with all your heart comes from the Old. To love your neighbor also comes from the Old Testament. Like finding TRUTH in what Jesus taught. Listen to Jesus because he is speaking for the Father. The Father is who gave us his Laws to do them. That's where choices come in. You are free to do what so ever you want. God doesn't make no person come to him. You surrender yourself you volunteer to be his Disciple. To receive ETERNAL LIFE it starts with REPENTANCE because all have sinned and will continue to sin without the Holy Spirit. A person must repent for being disobedient and accept the laws of God and do them. It is a conscious decision to make. The only place where a whole Nation heard the voice of God was from the mountain. Listen and keep those words in your heart.
******"******The choice is yours. "******

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

M, Jesus said the following things about "Eternal Life:"

"For God so loved the word, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NASB)

"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." (John 3:36 NASB)

"but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." (John 4:14 NASB)

"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:40 NASB

)

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life." (John 6:47 NASB)

"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will **** them out of My hand." (John 10: 27-28 NASB)

Again, this list is not exhaustive but you get the idea

.

Jesus also said "You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent. You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life." (John 5:38-40 NASB)
