God prefers a monarchy... right?

Heaven is mot a government. God is the loving father, like a loving worldly father looks after his children.

You have a choice, wether you choose correctly is up to you, just because God knows the outcome beforehand doesn't mean you can't choose

The concept of "free will" has never made sense.

In Jeremiah 1:5, God said:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

So God knows the future before it happens. Which makes sense if He is omniscient.

When God made Adam and Eve, He knew that they would eat the forbidden fruit, He knew the day that Jesus would be born and the day that He would be crucified, and He knew that I would be sitting here, right now, typing this. And if He didn't know that then He's not omniscient, right?

If He knew it all in advance, then He knew every choice that I would make that led me to right now. I might have had a choice, but He knew which way I would choose... which meant that I never had a choice at all.

Imagine that you're watching your favorite movie. You've seen it a thousand times before and know exactly what's going to happen. At one point in the movie, the main character has a choice to make. Does that character have the ability to choose a path other than the one that you know is already written? Of course not, because you know in advance which way he's going to choose.

I would be interested to read anything in the Bible that says we have free will beyond what God knows we will do.

No, takes a lot more to hurt my feelings than your ongoing same old, same old.

I don't need to do an experiment. Just like you don't need to be a condescending a'hole.

Let’s do an experiment.

You stop breathing for an hour and tell us about the experience.

Jimbojolly

You can make yourself stop breathing if you really want to.

None of us really has a choice about whether or not to breathe. You may think that you can stop, but at some point, you will pass out and your autonomic systems will breathe for you. You really have no choice.

If you get on the road or not, it's a choice. No matter what you think the reason is, it's still a choice. You just can't control what anyone else or anything else will do.
We often hear it said, …."I had no choice". But there is always a choice. Always.

I would have say that God is a Monarchy, in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are as one , but still three.

Did you make the choice to get on the road or did circumstances make it necessary to travel?

Circumstances made it necessary for me to need oxygen, I have two choices breathe and live or don't breathe and die.

"Man is not capable of more than two choices"

Boy, I sure am glad you said "Man"....

however, I kind of agree with that point also...at least in the timeframe of the Garden of Eden...

I like to believe that mankind/womankind has made some progress since that time.

Man is not capable of more than two choices, Choose to obey the Creator or choose to disobey. that is your free will. you can not choose to make God disappear, or recreate the earth and how it works. You can't let the spoiled brat drive when he is two years old no matter how much he cries.

You made the choice to get on the road.

yes, that is sort of the simple answer AR!!!

but when you have specified answers then it's not free will, you simply have 2 choices.

Most choices are between options chosen by someone else.

On a one way road heading east, you may have freedom to choose your speed or whether the windows on your car are up or down or what exits you take for pee pee breaks, but you’re still heading east.
