Not saying it wasn't, just said that it's in the news NOW, too.

It’s been on the news weeks ago.

I didn't hear about it before, but it's all over the news now. I guess because they're facing charges now?

Anyway, they confessed on tape, but I wonder which one of them knew they were being recorded? My guess is the woman.

Gofundme takes a very small percentage. They just run the website that allows people to set up charitable funds. They do a lot of good. But like collection jars on a store counter, it’s probably a good idea to stick with cases where you know the details.

I'm sure GoFundMe does good to a lot of people, but it is a unique opportunity for scamming. Lots of legitimate charities give very little to those in need, but a great portion goes to the administration.

Very old news. I’m also amazed that anyone fell for this story. Name the last time you saw a homeless person that wouldn’t have tried to eat the lug nuts instead of trying to change a tire. And those crooks at intersections with “will work for food” signs don’t count.

The people that donated to this deserve to be scammed.

I saw that too...months ago. crazy that ppl have the ability to exhaust all that energy into coming up with a scam, which apparently "paid off" for said ppl. maybe if they put all that energy towards a career, they would be millionaires ... the honest way

I don't know if you guys have seen this one going around. The story goes that there was a homeless man that saw a woman at a gas station with a flat tire, and no one would help her. So he rushed over to help her change her tire, and gave her his last $20 so that she could buy gas and get her 3 children home safely.

The woman and her husband were so grateful that they posted a GoFundMe campaign for the guy, and raised over $367,000 for him.

Except... the whole thing is a lie.

There really was a homeless man that the couple met at some casino and decided to help, but they made up the whole story "to make people feel bad."

And of the $367,000, they actually gave $32,000 of it to the homeless man in question. The couple kept the rest of the money for themselves.

Now the couple is facing criminal charges, and the homeless guy is in jail for drugs:

True to her fraudulent nature, now the woman is claiming that it was all those big bad men's idea, and she's just a poor wittle naive girl that don't know no bewwer
