So the laptop that was Russian disinformation is now legitimate and someone stolen it two years later.
This is incorrect. The discussion has always said that the disclosure of emails allegedly belonging to Joe Biden's son "has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation."
Again, it says that the emails are likely part of Russian disinformation... not the laptop.
In fact, those intelligence officers stated that Russia had done something similar in 2019 when they "targeted Burisma late last year for cyber collection and gained access to its emails." And that "US intelligence agencies warned the White House last year [2019] that Giuliani was the target of an influence operation by Russian intelligence." Meaning that they knew he was gullible and would fall for such a thing.
What this means is that, even if the laptop were proven to be Hunter's and there were suspicious emails found on it, there is enough evidence that Russians were at least trying to gain access to his laptop and could have sent emails in an attempt to frame him.
Which again means that, even if he's as guilty as OJ, it can never be proven. There are just too many opportunities for someone else to have done it to ever prove anything.

Apparently you have not heard that Hunter's attorney has asked for a criminal investigation. Their argument is the computer is Hunters and belongs to the computer shop but the contents were not. They want the shop owner and others who distribute the contents criminally charged. So the laptop that was Russian disinformation is now legitimate and someone stolen it two years later. Are you completely gullible? The FBI was trying to get Trump and they got Biden. They have been doing cleanup since November. Biden is not cooperating. Congress has everything that Trump had but not one piece of Biden's documents. I guess you like Hunter was setting up gain of research labs in Ukraine because he wasn't a government employee. The next couple of months is going to be entertaining.

Basically, the data on a computer is just a book that can be reused. Ironically you don't even have total control of what goes in your book. Someone can add or take information from your computer without you even knowing they did so. That can be done while you are using your computer.

I'm reading that they CAN be if a keylogger is installed. But I'm not finding anything saying that it happens otherwise.
Regardless, I'm entirely in favor of an investigation, and if wrongdoing is found that throw the book at them! But with the laptop being out of his possession, and apparently in the possession of a computer expert with Trump loyalties, I don't know how anything could ever be proven.

The problem, though, is that the laptop was compromised by people with an ulterior motive. This means that the whole thing is irrelevant, since it can never be proven that they didn't plant whatever information is found.
If Hunter really DID do something criminal, they ruined any chance of a conviction.
If he didn't and Guiliani planted evidence, that's even worse.
Either way, it's very bad for America.
