I haven't either so I'm not really sure myself. But it would make sense if its entities that are across multiple states.

I mean I know they could come investigate mom and pops cafe in Posunk nowhere

Mich,
Not any company. I think it has something to do with interstate commerce and professional sports having some type of exception. I'll admit I haven't done much research on the reason the have the power.

MichSt66

I get that but I assume they have the authority to investigate any entity or company in the country.

Mich,
I get that, I also don't think Congress should investigate the illicit goings on in professional sports.

I'm just saying you open up a huge can of worms if the president has to power to tell any organization that is not ran by the federal government that they must remove a ban.

Trump loves the swamp

Mich,
A year suspension is very different than a lifetime ban.

MichSt66

Posted 8:26 pm, 02/18/2020

But should the president really have that type of power? I mean then he could void AJ Hinchs year long ban allowing teams to rehire him.

CowBoysFan

And why is doping or sign stealing a matter of congressional concern?

CowBoysFan

Mich,
I didn't say Trump should put Rose in the HoF, just remove the lifetime ban, let the selection committee do their job as always.

MichSt66

Now I absolutely despise that Pete is banned from baseball and there is no doubt he belongs in the HOF. Its a petty game that is being played. Especially with the whole Astros thing now.

But I don't think the president should have any power to remove the ban and place Pete in the hall. That's way too much power and opens the door for other things. Congress can investigate banks, should that give the president power to insert whoever he wants as head of Wells Fargo?

Should,
Apparently you are unable to discuss things in the abstract.

Should,
Yes I do, and you're right I voted today.

You seriously have no idea how the powers of the executive or legislative work.

And you vote.

CowBoysFan

Should,
Me and Mich are having a conversation. Like I said if Congress has the power to investigate MLB, Trump should have the power to pardon Rose of his ban from HoF, and I know Rose was never charged with a crime. Compared to what professional athletes do this day and time it seems like an unjust punishment considering Rose never bet on his team to loose.

MichSt66

Posted 7:33 pm, 02/18/2020

So Trump should be able to step in and tell MLB to allow Rose back?

Next a crime has to be committed for a pardon. Rose never did anything illegal. Just illegal by MLB standards...

You obviously don't. The Constitution gives clearly defined pardon powers to the executive.

Unless you just don't like the Constitution.

Should,
Solicit not illicit

CowBoysFan

Should,
I know how they work, I was posing a question to illicit debate.
