I remember in the 1990's working @ a facility in Yadkin county. We would go to the Corner Kitchen to eat our lunch, and the place was always packed full of people dining. It was located near the Iredell,Wilkes and Yadkin lines.Across the street was a Large Dairy Farm, and a lot OT times they were pumping green liquid cow manure across the surrounding corn fields. It was a strong odor outside but I always enjoyed the great food on the inside of the cafe.It was out Buck Shoals rd after you pass the Amish area.

China owns Smithfield, are they responsible for the hog lagoons? I used to buy produce from an open air market in Duetchland but started noticing crawly things in the fresh lettuce and other produce so - No Mas!

Chalky and Joseph T, have either of y'all ever been down around a hog lagoon? I really don't think either of you know what you are talking about. Please read smonk's posting at the first of this thread.

Having 7 hog lagoons overflow into the standing floodwaters that are all over the eastern part of the state is the worst case scenario for public health. The coal ash is awful too, but in a different way- heavy metals vs. e-coli. Take your pick!

Those mean old Chinese should take care of their pig pens in NC.I bet they have the same problem in China with Smithfield products. In Europe they pump the sewerage from the sewage systems into either horse drawn or gasoline powered Honey Wagons. The farmers then take the sewage and spray onto their fields and even on veggies.

Really? I have never heard this before.

You must be joking :)

Those ash ponds were there before Pat was governor. I was actually making a joke about impeaching Cooper since the left was calling for McCorys impeachment even though he also had nothing to do with the ponds. I figure impeachment should be passed down to the successor

Pat McCrory, North Carolina's outgoing Republican governor, has signed a law stripping executive powers from his successor, Democrat Roy Cooper.

When a Duke coal ash pond dumped 39,000 tons of ash into the Dan River. Political ties to Duke, where McCrory worked for 28 years, became as potentially toxic as its ash.

backward don't blame Roy Cooper for this.

Grandpa is right.

As soon as Cooper defeated the Republican incumbent, Pat McCrory, in the 2016 election, the Republican-led legislature began stripping powers away from the governor’s office.

Republican lawmakers reclassified the jobs of hundreds of McCrory’s political appointees within state government to stop Cooper from replacing them with his own picks, and they changed the law so that Democrats would not be able to have a majority on the state elections board. They’ve also acted to constrain Cooper’s ability to appoint judges and members of state boards.

And he does not take into account the dilution by the massive water flow. Not to make light of the comments but there is a lot of "Chicken Little, the sky is falling" information in that report
