Ok probably not the same lady but it sounds like they would become best friends if they were to ever hang out

Is the lady you speak of, by chance, a blonde in her 50's-60's with a smoker's rasp?

chendo

sounds just like this gal, except she drinks beer. she gets into arguments with everyone!

Chendo, the lady you speak about reminds me of the most annoying customer I ever waited on....

She would ask out loud, "did you vote today?" I lied and said that I did vote, just to avoid the freshman year civics class scolding ppl always give you when they find out you don't vote

When I lied and said "yes, I voted"....she responded with "but did you vote for the right person?"

That's when I went off the rails and told her that not only did I not vote, but I was a veteran and i fought for my right to not give a $***..... Then I told her that she couldn't talk about politics in the bar anymore cuz no one wanted to hear it.

This lady always came in and always drank more than a full bottle of wine, but never ordered a full bottle despite me telling her over and over that ordering a full bottle was cheaper.... The reason she did this was so that she could say (almost every single time) that I charged her for too many glasses....so I started leaving her empty glasses on the table....so that way I could count them in front of her when it was time to settle up.

She was one of those rare ppl that the management didn't mind it if I pissed her off cuz the little amount of money she spent never justified how annoying she was to deal with.

Again....I was talking current events with the owner, and some random, ugly, barfly interjected herself into the conversation and tried to turn it to politics..

even in the community voice, i seldom post on the political threads

At *any bar I've worked behind

In my bartending days, I wouldn't allow ppl to talk politics at all bar I've worked behind....it's not a subject conducive to a pleasant, drama-free bar experience

Pickup lines? I am the master! Like;

" Hey...is it ok if I stand here with you until it's safe to back to where I just farted?"

I RARELY talk politics. This barfly interjected herself into a conversation with the owner of the place about current events.

She was to drunk, too uninformed, and just too dumb to hold her own. Saw her again last night...after a cursory, perfuntory greeting, I sat well away from her

She was the one who blew her chances with me.

I'd like a thread about movies currently in the theater. I hadn't seen any advertisements for Green Book or Glass.

Chendo, Caja does have a point ... you're never going to get a date with that girl on the barstool if you insist on talking about politics and current events! Surely you have better pickup lines than that, Lol.

I can agree with this, I am sick of hearing it myself. But am guilty of stiring the **** pot myself to blow of some steam.

Well my Mother and l thoroughly enjoyed our movie this week. We changed our mind and watched the movie “Green Book” based on the true story of Dr Shirley and his Trio. He was a classically trained pianists who needed a driver on his tour through the Deep South. It was set in the early 60’s and was a reminder of how ignorant racism was then and it’s hard to believe it still exists. Gonna save “Glass” for next weekend. Popcorn was also great as usual. Think l will start a new yhread on movies next week.

We weren't on a date...she just sits on a barstool near the one I occupy...
Besides. She wanted me even more after I scolded her

Chendo.

You’re a bad date.

the "you" that I was referring to was a collective "you"...not one person

I was in a taproom a few nights ago, talking to a woman I had previously met there a few times before. As the conversation turned to current events, I told her that I was a bit of a news junkie. She asked where I got my news from. I replied, "name it. Everywhere". She got a disgusted look on her face, and asked, "even ****&&&&****"? I said " of course" She then imperiously stated that she couldn't possibly have a converstaion with someone who watched, "THAT Network."

I proceeded to tell her that if she only got her news from one source, and only because it presented the news filtered to her liking, then she really had no business discussing current events with anybody because she was an ill informed person anyway. It is so important to at least know what people different from you are hearing, and perhaps thinking. "Talking points" are not real news, and how on earth can you have an intelligent conversation without at least attempting to know their point of reference?

That is what is wrong here...no one listens to each other or attempts to find common ground. They want to score "points". It is a less than intelligent way to debate, and certainly not effective. People want to filter everything someone says or does through the expected "conservative" or "liberal" knee-jerk, thoughtless zeitgeist.

You don't represent yourselves well, let alone your side. And you certainly have never given anyone food for thought, or pause for consideration.

I took a month break from here and the only change I see is less actual community posts.
