I saw no public confusion. Why the hyperbole? It frigging rained just like they said it was going to here and it snowed like crazy in the mountains just like they said it would, You really need to get in another line of work. You are the most negative weather poster I have ever seen on here always flapping that jaw like you are Gods gift to weather forecasting. I have yet to see you hit anything right. Wheres our other Weather poster?

I have no changes with my forecast. Everything below as posted.

CAD is well established and could easily be seen in a pattern leading up to this event. Had the prior snow event not occurred to our north a few days ago, this would have been all rain with a further north track.

I am unsure as to why a lot of TV mets had so much trouble with this system. There was a large amount of public confusion with this storm from all rain to a foot of snow.

Good Morning; I saw it on WXII: Authorities in Monroe County, PA, have Punxsutawney Phil on their wanted posters; the charge: Deceiving the public about springtime's arrival all these years.

And one final note before I sign off, this is a CAD event, temps will not be in the upper 30s to lower 40s that you see on weather apps. Those temps will occur before the moisture and drop to about 31-33 during the main batch of moisture.

Someone within about 20 miles of the town of Galax is going to get a nice surprise. Like 1-2 feet. Unusual snow amounts on so many models and the trend south is odd at this time range....the norm is for it to go north. This does not appear to be happening and the start time is Saturday late morning.

AppState1994

Temps will be so below normal that school could be impacted Monday and Tuesday due to freezing nights. A bit unusual this time of year.

AppState1994

I can't say I buy the 6-12" for Wilkes as depicted on the models...namely due to concerns about:

1) temps slightly above freezing
2) ground temps
3) March Sun Angle even behind the clouds
4) direction of moisture coming from the north-west off of Ashe County

but....I could see it possible for 3-5" of snow which is Winter Storm Warning Criteria. Higher amounts above 3,000ft.

I missed the last storm for Ashe and Watauga...they mostly did not see the 4-8" as other mountain counties did.

However, looks like my fears of this weekend are coming true. This could be a big one. Expect more Winter Storm Watches soon.

NO SNOW FOR YOU!

AppState1994

Here is what I think.

Impressive amounts of moisture will redevelop tonight. It will rain hard at times. A changeover will occur. Wet snow 1-2" in a few spots just west and north of Hays. The rest of Wilkes County will see a coating to maybe half an inch. Mountain Counties will see 4-6".

Another...potentially much stronger winter storm could impact the region this weekend. It may not be in the forecast now, but the current storm will bring down solid snow cover just to our north where we need the cold air to come from inside the wedge. This one could be a lot of snow, ice, or cold rain. Therefore, it would be foolish to believe the current GFS model showing 1-2 feet for us even tho it is 5 days away. Details may not become clear until Friday.

This Storm is a Crypt Level 2. Level 1 is where some of that fine gravel has washed onto the lane of travel or a small ankle biting dog lives near a steep incline.

Travel by Moped could become Hazardous. Slippery conditions in ABC Store Parking Lots could make the Maddog difficult to obtain, but not impossible.

there is a
good amount of uncertainty in potential accumulations.
......in other words......don't rush out and buy all the stuff to make a
big pot of
chill......yet!......lol

 >>>>>>>The first low moves through Monday night and pulls away early Tuesday,
The next significant short wave generates another coastal low by Tuesday
night with the potential for accumulating snow across the Appalachians
and central mid Atlantic region into Wednesday. This is yet another
very complex system to affect the region this winter and there is a
good amount of uncertainty in potential accumulations.
