FWIW, you don't need to be embalmed or have a vault or any of that mess. A family can dig a grave and put their loved ones away theirselves.

Personally, that sounds great to me. Why the need to preserve a body no one will ever look at again? Let my body go back to nature and supply the earth that has supplied me in life. Like Truthseeker stated, my spirit will go to the eternal feast in Valhalla and await Ragnarok. I'm glad we can count you among the einherjar, Truth.

First thing I did when my mom came to stay with us was to pre plan her funeral. Now all I have to do is make one call to the out of state funeral home and everything is taken care of so we don't have to make decisions or worry about waiting for life insurance policies.

I would be fine if they set me on a boat and send me to Valhalla!

After burying two family members a couple months apart in 2009, I decided I would not leave my family in a bind after my death and took out a life insurance policy. $10.46 a month for $10.000 coverage, not much, but enough to bury me.

I think anyone that has been through this doesn't want to do this to their survivors, so if you haven't done so, get life insurance!

Drug users have become an epidemic and it seems there's no real help for them in Wilkes County. Your teenage child could get duped into this lifestyle very eaily

Is there a field or something you dump the sole survivors in?

I don't think many people wants to think about death in advance as though it's a fact of life most of the time I would hate to be in a position like that.

Bestill, that bloodline will never die out. They have been and continue to be so prolific, that there will never be "the last one."

So the last surviving member of a family? Do you just leave them out to rot?

Families should bury their own. Period.

I agree with "amazed45" regarding giving any monetary donations directly to the funeral home. The family needs to choose a funeral home and ask for donations to be made directly to the business. I would be much more willing to do that than hand money over to different family members and not knowing it would be used for funeral. And "freetobe" is also correct. All funerals are ultimately the responsibility of the family. Family members should give sacrificially to bury their own. It is a sad situation all the way around. I ask God to lay a healing hand on this family.

I should start a gofundme for my future burial, I wont even half to mislead people in mine.

****, donate his body to Wake, let them study the affects of meth on the human organs.

They won't know until they have the money to have a funeral.

If they can't afford a funeral, won't the state cremate someone for free? I heard that somewhere.

Also, they could donate his body to Wake Forest for medical research and they will cremate for free I also heard.

Sorry this has happened to such a young family. May he rest in peace!

when will the service be held ? or does anybody know?

I am always sorry for families who lose loved ones and it is especially sad when someone so young dies. That being said, the things that were posted on gofundme were completely misleading and much of it just plain untrue. I am especially sad for the baby whose father is dead and whose mother will more than likely be in prison soon. As far as funeral expenses go, I dare say, there are many families faced with this same problem everyday and they manage to work it out without trying to dupe strangers. How will anyone know hos the money is spent? It doesn't even say who is getting the money.. If this is legitimate, why not have the money go directly to the funeral home?
