It may be a little more than 40 gallons there is a small hole in the screen but easily fixable I housed my gecko for 6 years in it and he never escaped. Comes with a hide a water bowl and a food bowl as well as an already attacked under the tank heater (however may need it be replaced within the next couple years) I will clean the tank for you and sanitize it
