In the safety of our home, my child has a lot of freedom. She does more then most adults get to do. She can outrun the neighborhood boys on a motorcycle, a horse or on foot, lol. Most of them admit to being fairly scared of her. Out in public around strangers. Yea. I'm a helicopter with no apologies.

One more thing, as a parent and TAXPAYER I feel that children should ride a bus for numerous reasons. However, I refuse to allow my children be exposed to such BS on buses. I cannot protect them from everything but I can shield them for as long as possible from filth.

I plan accordingly to get my daughter to school in a timely fashion. She's never been late despite having to sit in traffic on 221. Seems that traffic is hello no matter where you live. parting shot, neither of my children will ride the school bus. My fianc works at Millers Creek and my son will be traveling with his mother to school. I bet he will not be late.

I hate, hate the sound of a helicopter.
Plus, I don't know what that means

I think true hypocrisy is calling out people for being bigoted, racist and intolerant when they can't even treat the person in their personal space with respect and tolerance without being condescending.
And, that's not directed to a specific individual but several, just to be clear.

I know the feeling.
A stalker once pointed out my passive aggressiveness, as well.
No worries. This too shall pass.

I remember all too well that long school bus ride to and from school.....I saw many kids getting picked on being pushed out of their seats being called ugly names.....A lot of the kids were just plain vulgar talking...and this was when the bus driver didn't care to yell at you and threaten to beat your hinney....I cant imagine what goes on now since kids don't seem to have any respect for authority at all.....

Actually, what I was referring to is Jbs racist, bigoted attitude. How's that? I think riding the bus would help the daughter in this situation, maybe a bit of diversity.

JB, I'm with ya on the bus thing. My daughter will NOT ride the bus. You think they learn a lot in school? That's NOTHING compared to what they learn on the bus, lol. Not gonna happen.

I agree, there are SO SO many criminals out there. Its just hard when they are only in Kindergarten and easily intimidated. It takes lots of reassurance and encouragment from their family and teachers.

Every school should go to the "no walking kids in" policy. Safety should always trump convenience where the kids are concerned. Just because someone has a child in school does NOT mean that the other parents want them wandering around the school grounds while their child is there.
