Michaelhjsr that would mean the British should pay for those reparations if anyone should. But the form of slavery that African slaves were part of is what's known as chattel slavery. Chattel is property that is not real estate. The white "slaves" you speak of were indentured slaves meaning they entered into a contract voluntarily quite often as a means of paying off debts or as a way of making restitution for crimes they committed. It is not quite the same. What became the state of Georgia was pretty much a penal colony for the British made up of indentured servants sent from England to pay their debts. But it was also a means of claiming that land and populating it in the name of the British crown and keeping that land out of Spanish hands because Florida had been colonized by the Spanish.

I don't see where America made slave in the Caribbean.. this crap about reparations is nothing more than big talk. Slavery was a big part of the world. All races at one time or another was in slavery. If you think you are deserve something because of hundreds of years ago. Suck it up.

The four main colonial powers in the Caribbean were the Spanish, English, Dutch, and French. Other countries that held possession of various islands at different times were Portugal, Sweden, and Denmark. The United States became a colonial power when they gained Cuba and Puerto Rico as a result of the Spanish-American War. The US Virgin Islands were purchased from Denmark in 1918. Sweden controlled the island of St. Barthelemy from 1784 to 1878 before trading it back to the French, who had been the original colonizer. Portugal originally colonized Barbados before abandoning it to the British.

Table 5.1 Historical Caribbean Colonizers

Colonizer European colonies
Spain Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico
British Bahamas, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, Antigua, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Barbados, Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Montserrat, Anguilla, St. Kitts and Nevis
Dutch Curacao, Bonaire, Aruba, St. Eustatius, Saba and Sint Maarten (south half)
French Haiti, Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Martin (north half), St. Barthelemy
United States Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Cuba

Declaration of Independence gave America the right to became a Nation in 1783.
April 19, 1775 September 3, 1783 (8 years, 4 months and 15 days

Who brought the blacks to the Caribbean? Spanish Italy or England. So what does it matter what they want from America?

What about reparations to the white people that was enslaved here in America before the Dutch brought Blacks in 1619. Which at that time was under British crown rule.

And good luck with getting reparations from Africa for Africans sold by Africans.

Why is it that they come to the US demanding reparations? Was this island ever even a US territory? If not why would the US owe them anything? Perhaps when seeking reparations for slavery African nations should pick up the tab considering the African slaves were already victims of slavery before they ever left Africa before they were ever sold to anyone who was not African. It was Africans that claimed them as property to be sold first.
