As trade tensions between the U.S. and China heat up, expect to pay for it at the cash register.
“Every time this trade war escalates, the risk to U.S. consumers grows,” Matthew Shay, president and CEO of the National Retail Federation, said in a statement. "With these latest tariffs, many hardworking Americans will soon wonder why their shopping bills are higher and their budgets feel stretched."
As of the latest tally, the tariffs will mean higher prices on things like frozen orange juice, shampoo, peanut butter and tools.
“At a time where wage growth has been limited, every dollar counts and price inflation means fewer dollars consumers have left to spend somewhere else,” said Greg McBride, chief financial analyst for Bankrate.com.
New tariffs of Chinese imports will force Americans to pay more for items they use throughout their daily lives, from cradles to first bicycles and wedding dresses to coffins.

Looks like Sargy should be in Washington negotiating our new trade deals, but he may be too busy consulting with Kavanaugh and Manafort.

WASHINGTON " A White House economic analysis of President Trump’s trade agenda has concluded that Mr. Trump’s tariffs will hurt economic growth in the United States, according to several people familiar with the research. Republican lawmakers and many economists have been warning that the administration’s trade approach will undercut economic growth and partially offset any boost from the $1.5 trillion tax cut that Congress passed and Mr. Trump signed last year. And last year, a group of former Council of Economic Advisers chairmen from both political parties wrote a letter to Mr. Trump urging him not to move ahead with steel tariffs, warning that “tariffs would raise costs for manufacturers, reduce employment in manufacturing, and increase prices for consumers.” https://www.nytimes....rowth.html

I wish they would jack the tariffs so high on imports that it would only make since to buy American. Bring the manufracting back home where it belongs. How different would this county be if all the big factories from the 1980s were still producing stuff in the US. Trump is by far the greatest president we have seen in modern times. Only an idiot looking to continue buying cheap Chinese crap at Walmart would possibly think that bigger taxes on imports is a bad thing.

How many of you armchair business leaders have ever dealt directly with China? Evidently not many or you would have a better understanding how their business model contrast with ours. They steal, lie and cheat worse than Arabs. I guess you wish Trump would have drawn some red lines or maybe rented out the Lincoln bedroom to them .

I know you selfish libtards don't care but I would like to leave this country in better shape than it has been for my kids. If it means for a short period of time I have to pay a little more for our goods so that in the long run, our kids will have fairer international trade I'm all for it.
This points out one of many differences between a liberal and a conservative. Conservatives think long term, libtards want instant gratification and only care about the short term.

I know when you charge more for a product to come in that product will go up in price. I know that if US companies believe they have you by the nuts because of tariffs the price will go up.
WalMart will have to change its slogan.

"BUY AMERICAN", isn't going to help you this time...as the article states...even American made products and produce will rise in prices at the consumer level granted probably not as high as the Chinese products...but prices all across the shelves are going to rise.
