Politics aside i urge you to encourage your candidate to support better funding for our public library

I hate to say this, but I disagree.

I love to read, but the fact is that public libraries are obsolete. Worse, we spend tax money for them to compete with competitive industries that are doing well, like online book stores.

They do have value, but that's why we have a National and State Archives. There's not a single piece of paper that our local library has that can't be found elsewhere.

The events, classes, and computer access does have value, but these are already provided at the already funded WCC.

Anti, I disagree with your comments about the library.

The library is a public entity and it's FREE. WCC and online bookstores are not. It is not in it for the monetary gain. We all benefit from having a public library with a wealth of resources and programs for all ages. Our entire region benefits. More education = more educated people = more jobs

I have heard rumors before that part of why Lowes decided to relocate to Mooresville is because they could not get qualified people who had the education to do the jobs they had available to be filled. That is sad. The poverty level directly correlates with education. We have a literacy council of Wilkes due to the fallout. Many people are not literate here, and that simple fact puts people at risk. I have also seen the numbers saying that most incarcerated people have very low levels of literacy :

Early intervention is so important, and the library is the place most people around here can afford. We have an awesome library!

Ants, you blithering idiot.

The Wilkes Library is the depository of a wealth of information in their genealogy room.

The children's section is used every day.

Neither of these are available at WCC.

Our library has meeting rooms available and used for many programs.

As far as other people not having problems with the Cohns, you don't know the right people.

Sethboy will be nothing more than a mouthpiece for his daddy. Got that right. Look at all the evidence. Ron Cohn will justify any tactic to make money, including putting his own spawn in office.

Nice time for a double standard. So you're judging Seth by his dad? Then please tell us about the other candidate's dads.

Oh, wait, THEIR dad doesn't matter? Interesting.

Remember when he was crawling out the back window of his office to avoid being served papers ? When the sheriff caught him, he said.....I always crawl through the window.

You know that's a made up story, right? The only people I've ever known that had a problem with Dr. Cohn were the deadbeats that rented from him, wouldn't pay the rent, then got kicked out... and somehow that made him the bad guy. Or the contractors that he hired, they wouldn't do their job, and he fired them... and somehow that made him the bad guy.

But again, Dr. Cohn isn't running for office, is he? So unless you want to inspect the families of every other candidate, then you need to act like an adult and talk about the views of the actual candidates themselves.

Look at the money spent in the stage just so wilkesboro citizens can go shagging on a Friday evening.

You're talking about issues with the Wilkesboro Council, not the County Commissioners. I don't actually know the details behind the Taco Bell, but I do know that the Open Air Market was mostly paid for by Carolina West and Wilkes Telephone.

You want change then do your job and vote for new representatives.

OK, then... who? Which commissioners do you blame, and which candidates do you think are better?

Why do you get on this site and complain about the commissioners when you keep voting the same ole faces in to
Public offices. Look at the list - relatives-friends-good ole men and women. You want change then do your job and vote for new representatives. Why is it that J.C.Faw is being allowed to not clean up Gus mess of the Taco Bell in 421.if it was me a plain ole citizen I would have already been fined and made to clean this site up, yet because irsJ.C. Nothing is done. Good old Wilkesboro town management. Ha!! Look at the money spent in the stage just so wilkesboro citizens can go shagging on a Friday evening. Average citizens don't have a chance you know WHY?? You keep voting for the same lineup if CROIKS!!! So stop complaining.

Ask anyone who has dealt with him on any level. Remember when he was crawling out the back window of his office to avoid being served papers ? If the lights go out tomorrow some books will be priceless and tablets will be doorstops. The library has a lot of programs available for children and adults. I got a kindle but nothing replaces a good book. And the library gives every one access for free.

Absolutely, decsurvey is 100 % correct. And another thing, People, try to think clearly, instead of deeply. No computer will ever replace your common sense.

The digital age is not even out of the womb. Hard drives quit, memory sticks fail, software eventually fails, and computer hardware dies. The digital technology of today is for short term storage only. If you want to keep family photos, letters, or those precious videos then it is best to put them on hard media such as paper, LP record format, and negative or positive film. These mediums will last far longer, 100 years plus, than any hard drive, thumb drive, solid state drive, cd's, dvd's, or email.

I agree with 168Amax about redirecting all available resources we have to better educate our young men and women. This is our most viable solution to any problem.

What is needed is support, access to capital, and channels to markets for local people to start local businesses.

Small businesses provide over 60% of the jobs in this country.
