"Most fossils are found deep underground"
More lies

You are actually claiming that traditional mineshafts were not possible until the 1920s?

That was really hyperbole, but the "first well drilled in the Western world was... in 1859."

And then claim fossils were not known until the 1820s?

"The first dinosaur recognized by science - the Megalosaurus - was described in 1824 from a partially preserved jaw."

And that fossils are only found deep underground?

I said the opposite.

Regardless, the myths of dragons date back over 6,000 years, to around 4500BC:

This is way, way before mineshafts were dug and fossils were discovered.

This is just another attempt of anti's to demean and diminish Native Americans.

I've never done that, you're just a pathetic liar and a troll. You can never win an honest debate, so you have to resort to the common technique of lying to discredit the person that is winning.

This is why most people don't even reply to you. Haven't you noticed that every time you reply to a thread... it dies?

"Considering that deep digging wouldn't have been possible more than 100 years ago"

Lies, lies and dam lies

For myself, I am going to go with an archetype. Makes sense.

Maybe the Native Americans brought the fossil with them 5000 years ago when they migrated back to Asia. Or maybe they brought one from Asia thousands of years before.

Entirely possible! But I'm not sure if the Native Americans ever made it to Asia, so at the very least you're argument would assume a coincidence that two cultures on opposite sides of the world found the same fossils and came to the same conclusion.

Maybe Native Americans discovered a fossil in one of their mining operations and carried it with them on their extensive trade routes spreading the story to all of those different cultures.

I kind of thought that, too, hillbilly, but the first dinosaur fossil wasn't discovered until 1824. And that was just a jaw.

Most fossils are found deep underground, too. Considering that deep digging wouldn't have been possible more than 100 years ago, this would have to assume that every primitive culture stumbled across a large and mostly intact fossilized skeleton that was above ground.

Plus! It doesn't explain how they all came to the same conclusion that the dinosaur could fly. Only 9 pterosaur fossils have been found in North America or Central America, and none have been found in the eastern part of the US or Canada. So the odds of the Native Americans coming across a pterosaur fossil above ground would have been infinitesimal.

Did you know that mythical dragons appear in literally every culture around the world? Even when we historically discovered a new culture that had never been around any other cultures, like Native Americans... they had myths of dragons.

There she goes again.

I always kind of assumed people found dinosaur fossils.

Did you know that mythical dragons appear in literally every culture around the world? Even when we historically discovered a new culture that had never been around any other cultures, like Native Americans... they had myths of dragons.

They're even mentioned in the Bible... heavily in the Apocrypha, but also in the KJV.

Why do you think that is?

One theory is that dragons did exist far in human history, leaving ancient people to create their own myths based on the real creatures.

Another theory is that humans all share the same ancestors, and that the myth of the dragon dates back to those pre-historic men.

A third theory is that dragons represent an innate fear predators, serpents, and things that fly, so it's just a coincidence that every culture tapped into those fears to create the same basic creature.
