This is from the first paragraph of your link Anti,

(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

You don't go to jail for 6 months to 2 years for civil offenses.

Anti, just how do you think we can have an accurate count of the illegals living in the country? Remember the stink raised when Trump wanted to count them in the census? It's anybody's guess.

Trump has made deals with other countries to take in asylum seekers and to stop the caravans from coming and causing a crisis at the border (that wasn't a crisis at the border until the Dems decided to admit there was one, only to blame it on Trump). This is something other Presidents never did.

If there are fewer illegals coming in because we have other countries helping us, then we don't have as many to deport.

It doesn't matter what good things Trump accomplishes, you, and others like you, will never give him credit.
Like when you posted your link to argue welfare spending was up under Trump. You forgot to mention the only place it had risen was Medicaid expansion and that had risen greatly and will continue to do so, especially if more states implement it. Food Stamp usage is at a 10 year low, but you never mentioned that.of course.

The general decline in SNAP benefits is likely due to "the consequences of the very low level of unemployment and gradually rising wages," said Michael Wiseman, professor of public policy at George Washington University

Why not admit, that maybe, just maybe Trump has accomplished some good things. The economy and immigration come to mind.

Another dim playing the race card.

I would be curious, Conrad... you know that we have a surplus of about 8 million jobs, and they're mostly manual labor, low paying jobs that Americans don't want.

And you also know that being an illegal immigrant is a civil offense (not criminal) with a $50 fine:

And you also know that illegal immigrants pay taxes while not being able to apply for any type of government aid, which means that they provide more to the economy than 40% of Americans:

So the question is, other than racism, why does anyone have a problem with illegal immigrants that have committed no violent or drug related crimes?

Did you dims know Mexico has stopped the latest caravan at their southern border as a result of President Donald J. Trump's immigration policy?

Sure:

And how, exactly, does that help us? As far as I can tell, we could have used 7,000 people to pay in taxes while taking the jobs we don't want...

How many caravans before Trump?

Deflect, deflect, deflect.

Why do you live in denial?

Racism and common sense have never exactly gone hand in hand, Mich

Sadly people don't realize how crucial illegal immigrants are to the economy.

Do you remember Reagan,Bush Sr, and Bush Jr's campaigns on completely open borders? Or how Clinton and Obama were so much tougher in illegal immigrants than any other President (including Trump)?

It's not a party thing, it's a common sense thing. Democrats went after illegal immigrants that committed violent or drug related crimes, Republicans go after all of them. But that method causes local police to not work with them well, because no one wants to break up families over a speeding ticket. And it only hurts the nation in general by removing people that take lower paying jobs (and pay taxes).

You'll also see at the link I gave earlier that we have more illegal immigrants in the US now than we did in 2016, so fewer border arrests has had no discernible impact on the number of illegal immigrants actually here.

Just wondering if you have noticed, you don't have as many to deport if you stop them at the border? Even with your party fighting tooth and nail to have open borders. Oh I know you are an independent in that case.

We've already talked about this, Tilly... Trump is deporting a fraction of the immigrants that Obama deported, and his failed policies led to sanctuary cities that make it even harder for his administration to do anything:

Illegal crossings plunge as US extends policy across border

Migrants' chances of entering the U.S. are the lowest in years. The U.S. government has sent nearly 60,000 migrants to Mexico while they wait for the U.S. to process their asylum requests. The Trump administration has signed asylum agreements with Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to send migrants to seek protection in those countries instead of in the U.S.
