This is a tragic story. I understand that the father was running from a situation that he felt was dangerous for his family, and he came to the US to beg for help.
How do you know that? He may have just as well been a drug runner that kidnapped the little girl. If all he wanted was asylum, Mexico offered it.
But when he got here, too much time had gone by and his daughter died from dehydration.
Border patrol could have saved her life by giving her some water, but they made a conscious decision not to. So their choice of inaction had a part to play in her death.
Again, how do you know that? I don't think you can make the assumption that the border patrol agent was that heartless. You know many are Hispanic?
It's a modern day tragedy, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a movie in a few years.
If Hollywood makes the movie you can count on it to be inaccurate.
But it's not Trump's fault, he wasn't there. It wasn't the father's fault, he was doing the best he could with what he had to work with.
He tried to stop it he invasion but a stupid judge wanted to be in the headlines. Let's blame the stupid judge.
To a lesser degree it's a specific border patrol agent's fault because he saw the child was dehydrated and did nothing, but he didn't know she was going to die. So it was his fault in the same way that if someone is driving and glances down at the radio right when a pedestrian steps in front of them, and the driver hits and kills that pedestrian, it's their fault for glancing at the radio. Which is to say that it's really not his fault at all, but people do often blame themselves for not seeing the future.
Again you are making an assumption. How do you know the agents had even seen the child enough to realize what was going on? 163 invaders and only a few agents.
I hope that Trump will see this and change border policy, though, to offer at least food and water at the border while waiting for the agents to do their asylum investigations. It saddens me that people will put out food and water when they see a stray dog, but don't want to do the same for humans that are dying in front of them
You have no idea what you are talking about. When a swarm of people all converge on a small temporary border outpost that is equipped to handle 2 or 3 people at a time, you can expect trouble. The invaders knew that. The invaders and mostly the father (if that is who he is) are responsible for the death of the child.
Build the wall which the Democrats used to support until their hatred of Trump overcame them and the chances of this happening again will be significantly reduced.
