Fuzzbug most decent legal gun shops will help you pick out a nice gun for you and help setup some practice sessions.
I was not suggesting people go out and shot people, but you can and should be able to protect yourself. If someone is endangering you and yours, please do not wait until they shoot at you or the people you love first.

I have friends in Greensboro, who after the KKK shotout in '79 also known as the Greensboro Massacre, all armed themselves and their families. Considering they were all Black, I totally understand. They are still making sure their daughters and sons, and anyone who marries into the family all go out and practice together.
If you are a woman, any minority, lesbian or gay, anyone that some of society sees as fair game because they are different, and you do not legally protect yourself, then you are leaving you and your loved ones without something that might protect you. There are crazy racist, ignorant hateful bigots who will attack you if they think they can.

I got a good idea...when the gun grabbers start bellyaching about guns ask them if they will give you a job as one of their body guards as carrying a gun goes with the job.

As I have said on another thread. I own 5 weapons. One of the weapons happens to be a Remington R25. Most of my friends and all of my female friends all carry guns.
Every woman should be armed, and also know self defense.
