How EVs will impact the electric grid

Johnboy, I see you have no experience in dealing with supply chains. Refurb products depend on having old products to refurb. Prices usually end up varying based on availability, if they are available at all. On top of that, refurb batteries do not have the performance of new batteries. The companies making them claim up to 95% performance of new batteries, but that's a very high hope.

Hey jestershouldajolly, WOW, a triple flutter blast of tsudip AND off topic YOUzer distractions. They get automatically moved to the ignore file but feel free to pester AND bugger them as you're wont to do.

Meanwhile, how do YOU feel about the hundreds of millions of pounds of EV battery waste "post recycling" that will be reclassified as "HAZARDOUS" AND end up in landfills during the next ten years?

Hey FakerConradDrew, why didn't you ever express fake outrage about the millions of gallons of water polluted by the fracking industry? Why didn't you whine about the massive piles of waste from nuclear power plants?

Why haven't you complained before about the massive amount of waste generated from mining for making batteries for cell phones and tablets?

When they put Charging Stations at the entrance of Grand Father Mountain and Stations at the top, that Should be your Sign about EV's????

Hey henroid, how do YOU feel when YOU push another distraction, AND this time an unquantifiable metric, rather than maintain a coherent discussion that is on topic?

I wonder if any of the "tech savvy" c*ckroaches can tell us what weight energy efficiency ratio was of the earliest ICV's?

Hey henroid, coulda YOU share your feelings with us regarding the conversion efficiency of solar cells peaking at less than 25% how many square feet AND for how long woulda it take to fully charge a Volt, presuming it to be a sunny day?

I'm convinced, with all those batteries hovering over us maybe we should stick to IC. At least we get a few more years of quality living while we're choking to death. When that big old lithium battery falls on you it's over instantly.

Hey finsBoy, there are folks out there who refurbish Volt batteries.

The Volt also had an 8 year battery warranty, estimated life of 100k miles.

Coulda any of our EV aficionados care to share their feelings with us about the environmental impact of millions of dead EV batteries will have against climateglobalchangewarming?

John Boy, your link left out some important information. GM discontinued the battery for the volt. So the battery have to come from other sources. That makes them more expensive.

Where did you get your info doggie?

A Chevy Volt battery replacement typically costs between $3,500 and $9,000. The cost will vary depending on the year, make, and model of the vehicle, as well as the labor costs associated with the replacement.

It doesn't take an expert piss ant to see the cost of replacing the batteries in a Chevrolet volt with 70K miles on it to the tune of 29K. Not to mention the cost of the car to start with.

More priceless information from our resident expert on Ev's. You should heed him he has a degrees, the most notable being a PhD (post hole digger) from Trump U.

I forgot about this thread. I see Mr Hankey has been up to his typical revisionist memory of pretty much everything. In the conversation that he is trying to rewrite, the subject was about that the technology needed to make electric vehicles viable had only reached the point where they need to be in the last few years. The same goes for solar and wind. While both of those are still a long way from being capable even coming close to carrying the demands of america, it took multiple secondary needed technologies to finally become advanced enough to make alternative energy sources anything more than theoretical. hanky likes to ignore for most of those years he is referring to, congress was under the control of the democrats.

But just like most emotionally based thinkers, Hanky doesnt comprehend that because of the batteries required to make EV's, solar, and wind to be truly viable, pollution wont be cleaned up. It will only be moved to 3rd world locations they dont care about.
