Three of my six kids are Christian and that has never been a problem.

I does not take a genius to do a google search on the evangelist that preached that day to the students to get an idea about what his message was going to be. Shame on those responsible for letting this happen and giving Wilkes County a black eye. We can not promote any religion in our public schools and those in education that don't get it should be terminated.

How ironic, when Madelyn Murray O' Hair, founder of American Atheists, learned of her son becoming a Christian, had this to say:
"One could call this a postnatal abortion on the part of a mother, I guess; I repudiate him entirely and completely for now and all times ... he is beyond human forgiveness."
Ironic this group, American Atheists, is defending these poor schoolchildren from being privy to the ideals of this speaker, yet was founded by a mother who couldn't forgive her own son.
Huh...

So what time was the assembly? Was it held during instructional time? Who sponsored it?

As far as, West Wilkes High School and Mr. Shepherd goes, he gave the students the opportunity to attend the assembly if they chose to do so, according to my child. My child said in no way whatsoever where they made to attend, or made to pray at this assembly. This was completely go at your own will. I am a God fearing loving Christian mom and pray for my family and all that will be in contact with my family daily. I know we do not live in a perfect world, however, just because my Christian faith and beliefs are not the same as those of maybe the AA's - I have to ask- I am not asking for your views to be stopped, so please leave mine alone? That is why we have Separation of Church and State and for those of you who are not really, really familiar with it look what Seaparation of Church and State is.

If just one Christian child could be be converted to Islam and understand that there is no God but Allah it might be worth bringing an Imam in. Or better still, let's incorporate Satanic worship into the curriculum. if Satan can take one Christian child away from belief in the Christ it would be worth it to allow Satanic ritual in Social Studies Classrooms. Forcing students to observe and practice Buddhism would be best though, don'tcha think?

A quick googling show the speaker to be more preacher than motivational speaker.

I admit that I haven't read this entire thread, so off topic.
I'm looking forward to watching the Red Tent.
Airs in November.

Does anyone know when the sermon was presented? Like I said, if it was before or after school or during any non-instructional time, no problem.

Sounds like a waste of instructional time to me.

In that sense, we have to forgive them because they know not what they do.

In some respects it's not entirely their fault. I think it is a lack of education both secularly and spiritually.

Bestill your points are solid, (and I agree with you), but I think they are falling on deaf ears, unfortunately. It seems that everyone's mind is made up on the matter.

butterflyfo (view profile) | Posted 1:11 pm, 10/30/2014 | If atheist are so sure there is no God then why are they so against people hearing about God. There's fictional books in the Linrary. Are they demanding those be removed? |
Because to my knowledge there aren't any churches built to worship the characters in those books. If there are please explain and tell us the location of such churches.
