I'm not understanding the "metaphor" regarding mommo.

Not all child sexual abusers are pedophiles. True pedophiles make up only a small percentage of those convicted. True pedophiles would be easier to manage and treat as they have only one sexual attraction which is to children.

The majority of those convicted of child sexual abuse are opportunists, power/control freaks, those with inferiority complexes, and other such disorders and syndromes. This makes them harder to treat as there are multiple underlying issues. Thus they are at a higher chance of repeating the behavior.

decsurvey: No, that time is not now. Maybe it will never be time to put the human race "out of its misery."

There ARE effective treatments available for alcoholics, abusers of other drugs, and some other compulsive behaviors.

However, my point is that pedophilia, in particular, has a high recidivism rate.

Yes! Lot's of folks would like to see folks like mommo banned from interactions with children. will it happen? No! Is it dangerous, IMO, as in many others, Yes!

The same thought processes while the thoughts differ are the same in alcoholics, drug addicts, and other types of abusers as it is in sexual abusers.

The thinking error processes that lead to each end mean are the same. This is why doctors believe treatment is possible of all the above.

Maybe it is seriously time to have all those nations with the nuclear means push the button and launch the full volley and put the human race out of its misery.

A reformed prostitute and an alcoholic in treatment/abstinence would not necessarily be child molesters.

BEFORE their "reformation," they might not have been child molesters either, but they still most certainly would not been good role models.

Hey Bestill, so, your comment about mommo was metaphorical?

Bestill

Posted 6:53 pm, 10/01/2014

Metaphorically..
I am talking about recidivism for the folks on the sex offender registry who are not guilty of crimes against children....The prostitutes with two misdomenour charges, the drunk publicly urinating...those people.

Bestill, were you kidding in your post at 4:36, speaking metaphorically, giving an example.....what?

Should a child molester who has served his time and been "saved" be allowed to teach Sunday School?

Absolutely not.

There are ordained ministers, preachers, pastors, and priests who CLAIM to not only be saved, but "called" into the ministry who do molest children.

A child molester who becomes "saved" should be required to live his salvation WITHOUT having ANY access to children.

Rehab for pedophilia doesn't have a good success rate. The recidivism rate is high. There's no known "cure."

Bestill

Regarding registered sex offenders, do you believe that prostitutes can come to Jesus or Somebody, and reform? It only takes two misdemeanor charges for prostitutes to get on that list. What about folks caught urinating in public? If they quit drinking and turn their lives over to a power greater than themselves and become Church Leaders, should they be forever banned from teaching a Sunday School class?

Of course, everyone has an opinion. For example, I do not think mommo should be allowed contact with children but I realize she has a legal right to so I don't fuss about it.

How did the daughter get there?

Be still you need to re-read the law. Exceptions aren't made for sporting events.

As bad as this hurts to say. Mommo is right.

Bestill

if you don't like a law, work to change it. Promoting violence against the law abiding only makes things worse.

mommotwo

Sure it would mommo

No, I don't think so. Reread it. The parental exception only applies for certain reasons and because your child is participating isn't one.

Bestill

Sure it would mommo, if the child is participating. Of course, the school provides supervision. The vigilantes are much more a danger than the convict and pose a greater harm to all children at the game. Read their threats.

Bestill, the exceptions wouldn't include a sporting event. It would only include a parent conference at the request of the principal or if they were called to pick up their child. From reading this it looks like the problem is with a principal that gave "permission" when he shouldn't have.
