OMGosh, this just gets deeper, sinisterer, and more troublesomer by the post.

Oh, for the good old days when granny grabbed a hen and a hatchet, lopped the hen’s head off and threw the writhing body in the general direction of the grandkids.

Just a reminder, people think they get great bargains at the Tyson chicken store. All facilities have them nearby. It's purpose is to get rid of out dated product. The labels may show a fresh date on them, yet anyone can put a different label on anything.Who would know the difference??

After reading all the links about inspection I won't be buying Tyson chicken.

Just a question, Why do you see very little Poultry, Beef, Ham labeled with the TYSON logo?? Even though it is a product of theirs, no one will buy it under that name....

A friend told me years ago that their supervisor told them NOT to package a piece of product they wouldn't eat themselves. Yet what they threw out was thrown back in packing area to be packed.. So much for dat shirt..

There is an inherent motivation for Tyson to self police and produce a quality product. It’s called “competition”. If Tyson produces sub standard or dangerous products, they’re open to civil and criminal liabilities as well as lost market share.

For example; if Tyson gives consumers botulism, consumers will then buy Perdue chicken. With readily accessed mass media, a litigious population and free market competition, Tyson will either produce safe foods or be relegated to the dust bin of history.

People, you could probably take a chicken, let it swirl around in the Wilkesboro Waste Treatment lagoon, rinse it off a litttle, send it down the line by 10 Inspectors and it would be handed out the drive-thru window of some fast food place before 72 hrs. lapsed. Now bark dogs.

This was announced several years ago. Processors, whether it be poultry, meat, cheese, milk, etc can apply for and get approval to self inspect

I've never been in there so this might sound like a dumb question, but do the USDA people check every single piece of chicken that comes down the line? Or do they do random checks?

USDA will be there m o d, maybe just not as many. Yet they'll have to slow things down for less which i don't think they want....

So the USDA people are not required to be there by law? I always assumed they were required to be there. Wow.

Oh my...

Yup, when one company buys another, it assumes the debt and legal obligations of the other.

I am not defending them, just saying...
