Slavery is still legal but only as punishment for crime, per the 13th Amendment.

The Thirteenth Amendment (1865) abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime, and authorized Congress to enforce abolition.

So if the federal and state governments decided to make slavery or involuntary servitude as punishment for crimes it would be perfectly legal. That means children and adults could be sentenced to a term or life of slavery or servitude. Note that it does not specify if this is to be a slave or servitude of government entities, private companies, or private citizens.

Would it be appropriate to sentence a criminal to 5 years of slavery or servitude to the entity or person(s) he or she stole from to serve the victim.
Should rapists be sentenced to be castrated and a term of slavery to the victim.
Should a murderer get a life term as a slave at hard labor after being castrated/fixed at hard labor in mines.
Should little johnny be sentenced to servitude or slavery to the neighbor whose window he broke with a baseball to pay for the value of repair.

In the practical world, might does make right.

That actually kind of makes the questions irrelevant. The reality is the government can take your body and property anytime it wishes. Therefore, for all practical purposes, the government own your body and can do with it as it sees fit.

Of course you don't. Only because I can't enforce it. If I could enforce it, you would have no choice but to accept it.

Time.... I don't agree with that. =)

Conclusion: The universe and everything belongs to me. It is mine. God, government and you are here to serve me.

Wait if you can't even own your body then you can't even own property If you can't own property then how can you owe anything? If you can't owe or own anything how can there be agreements?

Does your body belong to you or Society/Government?

Neither, it came to be through the reproductive life process and it will eventually return to it's origins. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Does what you produce with your body (labor) belong to you or the Government?
Somewhat depends upon the agreement you made with whom you labor for. If you labor in your garden, what you produce is yours. If you are a commercial farmer your crops are sold but a portion is paid to the Gov't in taxes.
If your body belongs to you, can you be forced to produce (labor) against your will?
It's always a choice, though some don't agree.
If you can be forced to labor, does your body belong to you?
It's a choice, no matter how painful. Submit or fight. Still doesn't belong to you. It's a vessel.

Chendo... I did use the word "tried" but I guess some brains can't be stimulated.... my bad.

You can't separate God from anything. All concepts about life depends on the existence or non-existence of God. The original question can't be answered until a decision is made on the existence of God or the rights of God. I know what you want to say or hear. You want us to say our bodies belong to us and not the state. However, in order to do that we have to either rebel against God or deny His existence.

What's left of my body & my mind is so blown the Govt doesn't want them, & can't use them, anyway; as far as my money goes, I ain't got much, meaning that it would do the Govt little to try to filch it.

Ok ok I'll give it a go for the sake of conversation...it's still cold and frozen today...

Does your body belong to you or Society/Government?

hmmmm, let me think on this....all of the above!

No man or woman can live alone...

Does what you produce with you body (labor) belong to you or the Government?

again, let me take a moment...all of the above!

without labor of some sort, there is no survival. As for belonging to the government...the government, a good government does it's utmost to assure that there is survival of which we all must participate!

If you body belongs to you, can you be forced to produce (labor) against your will?

hmmmm, let me give this one a little more thought....all of the above!

it's instinctual. We are forced by instinct to produce, whether we want to or not...

If you can be forced to labor, does your body belong to you?

hmmm....yes and no!!!! see the aforementioned response's!

Notice I made no mention of Trump, Dems, Rebubs or God. (Originally) People here like to take things to their safe zone arguments. I tried to actually start a thought provoking conversation.

Then how does this play out?
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God"this is your true and proper worship.

There is actually a deeper question here, do you own your soul?

timeforreason

Posted 1:10 pm, 01/18/2018

Therefore, it will depend on how you view God. Does your body belong to you or does it belong to God? If it belongs to God then it belong to the church/government/King. Which means you don't own your own body.
