I remember when the pool hall was under the police station in North Wilkesboro and all the poker games played there. There was cards and money all over the place and the town cops were walking through. I am not talking about getting cops to look the other way. I am talking about a totally legal casino in Wilkes.

That is not true. You just don't think out of the box. A casino can be oppened in Wilkes by anyone with the funds to do so.

The state laws will not allow a casino in Wilkes county, Unless... we can find enough Native Americans to claim tribal land and then open one up. Of course then Donald Trump will show up to sue the tribe for having better odds then his casino's, just like he did for Harrah's at Cherokee.

I am pretty sure we can't have those type place in Wilkes. The demographics are wrong. We don't have enough people in any subgroup to support that type of place. The most people you can get together in a subgroop is about 20. We need something draws from a wide demographics.

I'm from Winston actually. The best part of Winston is the downtown night life. Trendy little restaurants, bars, and clubs that really come alive at night!

You are thinking like a Wilkes county public servant. We need something big not another restaurant. Wilkes can only support so many restaurants. If Wilkes has any hope to recurit good paying jobs then Wilkes need sex appeal. We need something that people in Winston will think of Wilkes when they want to have fun. We need a casino.

I'd love to see a decent restaurant in Wilkes! They should have left Mc donalds torn down and built a new place that serves actual food!

We have just sat around for years watching the old foggies run Wilkes into the ground. What has happened to our ball parks, our bowling allies, our dance clubs, our movie theaters? We are slowly losing everything. All we have now is a run down theater and a new over priced one, a gated up dam, a unused river and a big rock mountain. Oh, and a town park used for drug deals and gay hook ups.
