Why are houses sitting empty

Also, you told us what you did with your immense wealth, no one asked really, but I just gave options as to how to reduce each of those costs you mentioned in your whining about how much people pay to have unoccupied homes.

To your Fox News story, that sounds like the equivalent to tax fraud or social security fraud. If renter is doing that with federal funds, that landlord should report it. Just a thought. And who the heck needs 3 boats?

You whined about the costs of upkeep on unoccupied house, and Fox whined about lord knows what, but you followed suit. But thats okay. Landlords do get tax write offs, especially on things they put into the rental property (repairs being the usual). And we all know "losses" are big time tax write offs.

Maybe Oldlady and Fox should tell their family to get back to work.

You got it wrong. I am not complaining. I am very happy paying for electricity, landscaping service, and security system for an unoccupied home. And I do not get a tax break either. It is no ones business what others do with their money, is it? I do not need the money. I do not want the house destroyed since it has been totally remodeled. I enjoy it when I stop by to check it.

I get that, just saying ways to protect yourself rather than relying on government. Security deposits of course are another way to help recoup costs from wear and tear and of course bad tenants shouldn't get their deposit back.

Less headaches sitting empty.

Might could add something to the rental agreements, that's where the leverage is.

I had three bad renters in a row and I got tired of dealing with it. I don't need to rent it now so I keep it up incase one of my kids needs it later. There's probably a lot out there like me just tired of my stuff getting trashed. Renters have more rights than the landlords.

can't evict

No way in hello I would rent out a house in Wilkes County. It's lifted for now, but it will be back and I'm talking about the mandate that during covid you can evict anybody.

Old lady's absolute ignorance concerning renters and the money the states aren't getting out may be connected. I can't blame the states if renters like her are too umbd to get help.

Sounds like a tax write off. Also, landlords can apply for rental assistance as well. You could also cut power off to vacant homes (event if you dont, you get the pleasure of paying a fee to Duke Power just to have power there even if you dont use it, thats not governments fault). Definitely cut the cable off if it is unoccupied (or better yet, have renters buy their own cable plans). Also, love that you claim to have unoccupied homes, but you end your whining with "I would never rent." Sounds like fake outrage at its core.

Foxy's experience with handouts.

As someone that has a home sitting as you described, why should I rent it when the government says the renter does not have to pay rent? Do you realize that people own homes and have them for rent and are making mortgage payments without receiving any rent? Some people rent their property that includes utilities for a certain amount, so now they are paying for the cable, power, water and are not getting a penny in rent. They are going in the hole every month. Some people are filing for bankruptcy because of this . Supreme Court says this is illegal but Biden administration is doing it anyway.

Plus, have you ever had renters? Because of past expenses of friends, I would never rent.

Foxy's "experience" turned into a diatribe about Joe Biden and abortion.

I assume she's just doing weird MadLibs now. AnywayI guess I'm glad she's had free rent. Don't know why she's complaining about orograms that have obviously benefited her, though.

The county elected officials are Republicans, how is it a federal government responsibility? Sounds like you are cheering for more centralized government, trump really got yall all sorts of twisted up.

"My experience with these free rent programs"

when "experience" speaks... it certainly is telling!

Didn't like that last few places you got "rent free", I suspect you were forcibly removed.... Hahahahahaha!!!!

My experience with these free rent programs is you will see diversity in action and justification for abortions. These folks will leave the house in much better shape than just letting it set. Most will "clean" the kitchen, clog the leaks (toilets). lower power bills by reducing fixtures, install wireless in all switches and receptacles, and get the walls ready for new paint. Outside you won't need to mow because the black trash bags and aluminum mulch will keep high weeds from growing next to the house. Greatest thing of all, there is no need to advertise for renters because you cannot evict the ones in there now. Hey, it is the Democrat way. Thanks Joe

Wilkes is literally filled with unused houses. Some of these houses are very nice brick houses in good clean neighborhoods. Most keep the yards mowed, paint kept up, some even have lights on, Looks like these houses would make a great home to rent, or for a couple just getting started to buy and raise a family. It is a shame to see them sit empty while we know there are people sleeping under bridges and bug infested motels. Why not let these needy people live in them. They could sub-lease them to incoming immigrants, provide a common gathering place for safe drug use, or even storage facilities for stolen goods. Most have garages that would hold 20 or more grocery carts, 10 to 15 mopeds or possible even a place to work of cars. Shame on you Wilkes landowners, for the common good from those who have to those who need. It is the Socialist way.
