Why are houses sitting empty

As someone that has a home sitting as you described, why should I rent it when the government says the renter does not have to pay rent? Do you realize that people own homes and have them for rent and are making mortgage payments without receiving any rent? Some people rent their property that includes utilities for a certain amount, so now they are paying for the cable, power, water and are not getting a penny in rent. They are going in the hole every month. Some people are filing for bankruptcy because of this . Supreme Court says this is illegal but Biden administration is doing it anyway.

People are going into bankruptcy because they still owe mortgage payments on houses they rent. How can they continue to pay these mortgage payments without income? The mortgage companies are not told to stop taking mortgage payments, are they? Because they financial support the Democrats.

When did I whine about keeping up an unoccupied home? You are a liar again. Just show me where I complained about the expense. It wasn't me you fool. I love paying those bills. I love the house and I keep it because I want to.

And you must be tripping because I do not have family not working. All of us are taxpayers, not stimulus receiving individuals with Medicaid, and free food. So if you do not know what or who you are talking about, just keep your foolish mouth shut.

I don't think all landlords voted for Biden, so no, wrong again.

Les must think landlords are tsupid.

They aren't, Les. Not everyone is you.

End result of Biden's moratorium on evictions:

Less number of landlords willing to rent.

Which results in less availability of affordable housing.

Which results in more government housing so more Americans are controlled by the government.

All part of their plan. Don't blame me i didn't vote for the party that hates American's freedom

If someone is behind on their rent, as you are implying, they still have to pay back rent. If they don't, then their credit can be ruined.

Did you seriously think your roach infested trailer would fund your retirement?

What about the people that decided to work for a living and not become a ward of the state, save their money, buy a rental property to retire expecting the rent to furnish their income? Are you for kicking these people into poverty just to provide for many who are unwilling to work for a living?

Because people like you don't think they need to pay anything to live in them. And when they leave you have got to haul off the trash and get it disinfected. Easier to let it set

That shows how ignorant you are about housing. Right now most houses are not just selling for the loan payoff, most are selling above the "asking" price. You are about 5 years behind the market Einstein

When the bank has an outstanding $250K loan and the house is only worth $180K, the bank will keep the house on their books instead of selling it and thereby taking a lose. As long as they don't sell the house, it is technally still worth $250K. That keeps the stock market happy.

Well, that is not true. Foreclosed home are sold quickly. Some houses vacant are owned by people living out of town that are family homes. Those are the ones that are run down with yards not mowed. Again, its their business.

My guess is the empty houses you see are houses that the bank has repossessed. It is sometimes more profitable for the bank to let it set empty.
