Odd that the medical workers that just treated the seizure patient did not step up to stop a seizure patient from being arrested for assaulting an officer during a seizure. Must be a HIPPA thing.

Well she does have the report saying she had multiple seizures and it does say to see her doctor asap but the thing is you have to remember that wilkes county doctors and most police people arent the best in the world they are pretty ****ty and they had no right to treat her the way they did here at my house and at the hospital and they took her straight to jail because they had took charges out on her and that she was not allowed to go anywhere else but straight to jail until her bond was paid

I am not saying that what Nikki said was not true. The one thing that I would like to add is why would doctors let the sheriffs department take her to jail if she was in this bad a shape. It seems to me like there is a failure to communicate between family members, first responders or paramedics, sheriffs department, and the doctors. If all told is true the woman stands a great chance of winning her day in court, plus a big pay off in a lawsuit, and making the Sargent in the sheriffs department look very bad on all the decisions he made that day.

"She got released from the hospital and the Wilkes County Sheriff Department took her straight to jail!!"

So, did the physicians in the ED confirm that she did indeed have a seizure or a series of seizures?

The ER report and her discharge papers would have confirmed a diagnosis and how to deal with them and to see her primary care physician as soon as possible.

Never make it past probable cause bearing in District Court. If it does then find a lawyer that the judge, sheriff, and DA do not have by the balls.

I have to respond to this. The Wilkes county deputies have used their pepper spray and tazers on mentally ill people before. People with mental and medical problems have rights and either the SD is not trained properly or think the people of Wilkes are too ignorant to know their rights. There are attorneys who will help you sue them. Find one out of the county and write a letter to the journal patriot to bring this to everyone's attention. If we stick together we can get justice for these people who can't help themselves.

Like I said many times before people need to start reading there full rights and learn about all the laws and stand up to cops be law suits and showing cops your not scared of them anymore cause until people stand up for them self against those cops that act above the law it will only continue to the point it will be like it was in the old days people where we will get beating on and worst just because cops think that no can touch them.and if I was you people I would get a out of town lawyer and sue the cop no in town lawyer will take the case cause there friends with all the cops around here so its best to get a out of town lawyer and sue them for wrong doing.

I know a person who is schisophrenic(sp?) She often fights with her "other self". If you ever try to interveneshe will swing at you and start cussing you. She doesnt realize she is doing it and I couldnt inagibe her being held accountable. If you are in a seizure or in a mental state like I just described, I don't see how you could be charged.

Working in that line of duty, when incidents like that occur you should be prepared. The person ciuld become combative and not even realize it.

In the medical field, if you are caring for an Alziehmer's patient and they punch you in the face, you can't just run and take out papers so I don't see how these deputies should be able to.

A person having a seizure should not be restrained according to the Mayo Clinic, and nothing should be placed in their mouth as the tongue cannot be swallowed but an object can. A seizure lasting more than 5 minutes or a second seizure ooccurring in a short time should be treated as a medical emergency.

Yea, Repub because there is absolutely no way these saints of deputies we have could ever do something as terrible as this. (sarcasm)

I hope your family presses charges against the deputies. They need to realize they are here to serve and protect and that not every citizen in this county is a criminal.

so...during the times this person was having her "grand mall" seizures...did anyone bother to rend aid...you know like...rolling her over on her side in case she vomited...making sure she didn't bump her head....those little things that count to keep the victim from really hurting themselves?

I had a classmate in elementary school who would have seizures and we all learned to run out of the classroom asap as he would sometimes exhibit superhuman feats during an episode such as slinging an old school type desk against the other side of the room.

The Deputy didn't arrive "with" them, the EMS called the Deputy because she was uncontrolable. Crypt
