Wilkesboro Belk Closed Permanently

How dense are you? This has nothing to do with the quarantine. A business the size of belks wouldn't make a decision to shut a location so quickly just because of a slow period. Belks has been shutting stores for a while and this has been expected.

But I guess if you are making comments at least you aren't trying to post people's private medical information.

You are misinformed about Belk closing. There is reason it is not in the paper---it's not happening. I am the Store Manager and we are closed to the public but we are still doing internet business in each store and have closed the distribution center. It is all we can do to keep up with the amount of orders we have. Also we OWN the building- and collect rent from Dunham next door---so we don't pay any ANY rent- just taxes.

Wow. I hate to hear that. Sadly that will be a reality to a lot of business I'm afraid. It's going to take a while for us to all get back on top of things.

That wouldn't surprise me, I think that rent for that building would be close to $20,000 a month! Add in payroll and there's no way that store could have been profitable.

It's part of several lower performing stores combined with god awful rent. It's cheaper to leave Elkin location open for online orders and in-store purchases. Workers were told to seek new employment with no job to come back to.

How is it that you have the information?

Since the Wilkes Journal Patriot sucks at reporting figured I would post it here. Elkin location will remain open beside of Ingles.
