This years Americana Day is shaping up to be the biggest ever.
The 10th annual music festival, which will be held at The Record Park at the corner of Fourth and E streets in North Wilkesboro on Saturday, Sept. 5, will showcase youth performers, ages 18 and under. It is sponsored and hosted by The Record and is free to the public.
Music teacher and musician Larry Skipper, who organizes and emcees the event, said, Well have more young entertainers there than weve ever had before.
Last year, more than 50 youth musicians took the stage. But, its not only Skippers students who perform. Other music teachers, including Rick Brockner, bring youths from their talent pools. Others players and singers include those who are self-taught or who are accompanied by their parents or friends.
A childrens activity area will also be available. Food, including hotdogs and hamburgers, will be prepared and sold by Arbor Grove United Methodist Church.
