The ALL VOLUNTEER Humane Society of Wilkes (HSOW) now has its own building located next to the Hidden Oaks Dog Park (in Cub Creek Park). This is NOT an animal shelter.
Initially we will be open on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 12 pm until 4 pm. In the future as more volunteers become available the days and hours may be expanded.
Open to the public for the following:
Sign up to join HSOW. Dues are only $15 a year, and we are always interested in new volunteers.
Come in and sign up for our Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP). Bring proof of income, or Food Stamp, Medicaid Card. Must earn 35K or less to qualify. Dogs & cats fixed for $25. If no current rabies vaccination additional cost of $7. Payment in full at time of sign up (cash or check). Voucher good at most Wilkes County vet offices. This is in addition to our regular sign up at library every Tues. evening.
HSOW T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, dog & cat toys, collars & leashes, calendars and misc. items are for sale at the building. All proceeds go to help our various programs since we are 100% volunteer and donation supported.
We have a nice mini-library of pet related books. Stop and check one out to read while your dog plays in the dog park.
We are always in need of monetary donations to help support our programs since we are 100% volunteer non-profit organization. We also accept donations of ALL pet related items (pet beds, crates, carriers, food, etc.). Since our building is brand new we also have a DONATION WISH LIST that includes microwave, refrigerator, computer (desk top or laptop), phone(s), bookcase, storage shelves or cabinet, and possibly some furniture items.
Come on by and check our new building out. Everyone who has donated to the Humane Society of Wilkes helped put it there.
NOTE: The Humane Society of Wilkes is NOT affiliated with the Wilkes County Animal Shelter. HSOW is a local organization and NOT affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).
