The Small Business Center of Surry Community College will be offering a �Small Business Professional� series for aspiring business owners and entrepreneurs. The five session series begins with �Starting a Business� on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. This is followed by �Writing a Business Plan� on April 15, �Marketing and Market Research� on April 22, and �Financing and Understanding Financials� on April 29. The series concludes on May 6 with �Record Keeping and Taxes�.
Each session meets from 6:00 until 8:30 pm in room 111 at the Center for Public Safety, located at 1220 State Street in Mount Airy. These informative seminars are offered free of charge. Participants may attend any or all of the sessions. Allan Younger of Grace Consulting will be the presenter. Allan has spent over twenty years gaining diversified corporate experience. This experience includes the areas of business development, risk management, process analysis, account management and evaluation, and strategic planning.
Some of the topics covered during the 5 sessions will be: business structure; community analysis; licensing; contents of the business plan; identifying target markets; the marketing mix; breakeven analysis; operating costs; and maintaining good financial records. These seminars are a great foundation for anyone thinking of starting a business in the near future.
