Were those small flags red, white, and blue. Stars and stripes?

It's a family graveyard recently obtain by the desendants of the buried after many years of trying to get it back in the family.

On Mulberry Creek Rd. there is a place where trees were cut down beside the road and a bunch of white crosses put up with a small flag at each one. It looks like it is supposed to represent a veterans cemetary.
