Roads are an example of tax dollar funds and police just to name a couple. Good luck without being able to use those services. Who's trying to defund the police now?

Don't like taxes, don't use government services.

It's extremely simple.

No one said it's Ok but remember when it was $4.00 a gallon.

And what about us already spending a 100 a week on gas now to drive to work. Any increase is bad. Dont sell this as ok because it is NOT.

I don't think Ozzy should pay taxes.

But you can't use any government services, either. Deal, Ozzy?

Gas is so freaking cheap here!

Gas now is taxed some 45 cent per gallon State & Fed combined, a 25 cent increase wouldn't be too bad.. So, if ya got a 14 gallon tank empty it'll only cost an extra $3.50 which would be $9.80 total tax on fill up..

For the record, I do not recall if the extra fees for hybrid or electric cars passed, but it has been a topic of discussion in the General Assembly before.

You are already "taxed" to do all those things with the existing federal gas tax (and state tax). However, this looks to be some pilot program and also looks like it is not guaranteed to happen.

As for the semi's and other shipping, it looks like this is not targeted at them if it were to happen:

"The program would target passenger motor vehicles, light trucks and medium- and heavy-duty trucks, while fees would likely vary between vehicle types and weight classes "to reflect estimated impacts on infrastructure, safety, congestion, the environment, or other related social impacts.""

This is pulled directly from your article. I would imagine this is an attempt (similar to what NC has already done) to recoup lost gas tax revenue from electric and hybrid vehicles.

Oh God! Are you having to pay taxes now? When did people start to having to pay taxes? What is next, buying water?

Better to tax the churches why should any portion of my tax dollar go to paying for their police and fire protection, while their dummed preachers stand in pulpit spouting Trump propaganda?

They want to tax you when you go to the store, go to church, go to work, go visit your family. When they tax the mileage on those big trucks that brings your food you'll be paying more. Old Joe says no but his handlers see it as a way to quicken the downfall of the middle-class.
